Johnnise Lopez

Johnnise is an associate dedicated to advocating for survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault. She is committed to providing compassionate, trauma-informed representation to clients and holding individuals and institutions accountable for the harm they have caused. Before joining Marc J. Berns and Partners LLP, Johnnise was a plaintiff’s attorney whose practice focused primarily on representing survivors of sexual assault and abuse. She represented both adult and childhood survivors in complex cases involving abuse in a variety of settings, including correctional facilities, schools, and religious institutions.

Prior to entering private practice, Johnnise served for four years as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County. As an Assistant District Attorney, she managed a substantial caseload of complex felony and misdemeanor matters from investigation through resolution. She participated in the investigation, indictment, and prosecution of hundreds of cases, including DWI, robbery, burglary, narcotics and weapons offenses, assault, non-fatal shootings, and attempted murder. Her experience as a prosecutor provided her with invaluable courtroom and trial experience and shaped her approach to advocacy.

She earned her J.D. from New England Law | Boston, where she served as an Editor of the New England Law Review.

She is admitted to practice in New York State, the Southern District of NY and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Outside of her work as an attorney, Johnnise enjoys traveling, hiking, running, spending time with her dog, and discovering new places.
