Horse-on-a-Stick Toys May Strangle Your Child
On November 10, 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission along with Big Ideas Marketing recalled around 8,800 Horse-on-a-Stick toys because the toy’s bridle can strangle children. When buying a toy for one’s child, a parent should not have to worry about the toy endangering their child’s life, says Marc J. Bern & Partners.
Big Ideas Marketing, of Owings Mills, Maryland sold these toys at Love’s Travel Stop and Country stores nationwide from May 2010 through July 2010. The CPSC received a report of near strangulation of a 2-year-old boy whose neck became trapped in the reins. The reins on horse-on-a-stick toy’s bridle are long enough to form a loop around a child’s head and neck, posing a strangulation hazard to young children.
The toys can be identified by the following description: filled with polyester fiber; fluffy mane; and the horse’s ears are embroidered with the words “PRESS HERE” in red. The horse makes neighing and galloping sounds when the ears are pressed.
